2025 Retrospective
Fugitive Emissions Summit Americas 2025, held at San Jacinto College’s LyondellBasell Center for Petrochemical, Energy, and Technology in Pasadena, TX, on April 2nd and 3rd, successfully gathered a community of end users, EPCs, distributors, manufacturers, and suppliers dedicated to improving workplace practices, in efforts to reduce the environmental damage caused by industrial emissions.
The two-day event provided a dynamic meeting point for a range of professionals, who capitalized on the opportunity to speak with one another. The conference and exhibition were attended by hundreds of participants from several industrial disciplines, including HSE professionals, design engineers, carbon engineers, and many more.
The event consisted of several high-quality keynotes, panel discussions, informative workshops, and an expo hall where visitors and vendors alike were able to network and talk shop, all of which provided time for learning, reconnecting, and forming new business connections.
A Dynamic Conference
Day One of the conference commenced with a chairman’s welcome by Dave Anderson, Score Group, who set the terms and the tone of the event — highlighting the motivations, actions, attitude to regulations, and need for collaboration that marks our moment. This was followed by a stirring keynote from Dana Wood, Energy Overwatch, who discussed the need for us to move from an attitude of ‘find and fix’ to ‘prevent and eliminate’.
Following the keynote presentations and a short coffee break, the morning session continued with an exciting panel discussion surrounding the topic of Best Available Technologies, moderated by Dave Anderson, Score Group. On the panel was Brad Allen, Teadit; Kevin Moses, LDARTools; Foster Voelker II, Williams Valve; Chris Kennell, Oxford Flow; and Ron Frisard, A.W. Chesterton.
After an excellent working lunch, visitors were treated to hands-on demonstrations on the expo floor. These included demonstrations of gasket and packing installation.
For the afternoon sessions, participants had the opportunity to choose between two workshops: Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) or New Technologies. The LDAR session began with Dave Anderson’s, Score Group, presentation on the automated detection and minimization of flaring and venting. Justin Bernard, Bray, followed this up with his stimulating discussion on optimizing test parameters for rotary valve emissions. Finally, Ron Frisard, A.W. Chesterton, rounded off the session talking about tackling packing friction.
In the New Technology session, Bob Connal, Hybrid Automation, kicked things off with a presentation on methane mitigation from gas-powered pneumatic devices. Alice Shao, Emerson, educated the conference on Reducing Fugitive Emissions in the Oil and Gas sector, and Eduardo Orozco, Sendero ESG Solutions, talked multidisciplinary mitigation from orphaned wells. Mina Georgy, Mokveld Valves, spoke about the how and why of valves without a dynamic seal to atmosphere, and Chris Kennell finished off the session with an eye-opening delivery on the potential of eliminating fugitive emissions with stemless valve technology. The day concluded with a happy hour that helped solidify the connections made.
Day two opened with Paul Heald, Bonney Forge, and Rodney Roth, Nippon Pillar, tag teaming an insightful keynote on the history of valve technology. These two doyens of the industry were able to put the current moment in context and paint today’s advances in a new light. Following that, guests had the option of either a hands-on demo by Benito Rodriguez of Teadit or a tour of the incredible facilities at San Jacinto’s LyondellBasell Center for Petrochemical, Energy, and Technology. After lunch, the day concluded with a brilliant panel session chaired by Rodney Roth, Nippon Pillar, on the future of low emissions. Panellists included Benito Rodriguez, Teadit; Chris Kennell, Oxford Flow; Virgil Clary, A.W. Chesterton; Paul Heald, Bonney Forge; and Eduardo Orozco, Sendero ESG Solutions.
After four successful events, Fugitive Emissions Summit Americas has cemented itself as one of the most important emission control conferences in the industry, drawing a crowd of emission prevention and monitoring professionals as well as decision-makers from all corners of the industry.
